MY NYSC EXPERIENCE episode 4 By Beebah

Yes a new routine, I said.
I became a regular customer in visiting the NYSC website.
Another thing I do is visiting several blogs checking for updates on when my humble self will finally make it to the Camp.
Mind you, I borrow phones to do these, cos like I said earlier, I didn’t bother to subscribe on my phone to avoid the heartbreaks (for those that have been following, you know what I mean #winks).
Some of my old friends who were also victims of stream 2 like Ayobami (lol), told me I shouldn’t be too expectant; she said stream 2 batch b usually resume camp by January.
That was how I was waiting on January like it was the trumpet day.
Fast forward oooooooooooo.
January came, the New Year celebration didn’t even freak me, all I was waiting on is the news update.
Taanaa!  I kuku met my luck as I open my usual www.nysc.gov.ng website where I saw “the greatest and best news of the century”.
Call- up letter is out!!!!!!, I wish you could feel my excitement.
I rushed to check the site and gosh, the site was damn busy. I decided to wait until midnight since I presumed the traffic would have reduced at that time.
I logged on to the website as fast as I can, the time was 12:45am.
Watching as the blue progress bar moved slowly on the screen, my heart was pounding fast, till it moved to the end of the page.
I began to scroll down slowly, and I saw it.
Viola! I was posted to Kano, yes K. A. N. O, Kano.
As if this heartbreak was not enough, NYSC said I would camp in Jigawa!
Funnily, I couldn’t even believe my own eyes. I don’t know where this laughter came from, but I began to laugh uncontrollably, cos it looked like the whole thing was beyond shedding tears for.
I began to ask myself where on earth is Jigawa?, the only time I have heard about Jigawa was when reciting the “states and capitals” as a child.
Well this was no dream, I’d be going to the Fanisau orientation camp, Dutse, the Jigawa state capital
Well, the annoying thing was my convocation was just four days before the camp resumed.
Yes! there was a part of me I missed, my alma mata; a school to attend; a school to be; a school to visit; the best in the world as far as I am concerned; (don’t argue with me o). FOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY, OSOGBO.
I was also one the pioneers of the Mass Communication department.
By the way you don’t need to wonder; the school and the department is fully accredited (permit me to do a short advert #winks).
On the Friday preceding my convocation, I had already prepared, packed my stuffs in my box and all set for my convo in Osogbo and “Jigs” as I fondly call it.
After my convo, I headed to my friend’s house in Ilorin thinking in my church mind that the journey will be faster and easier. Little did I know.
It was my first time in Ilorin and I never expected it to look so beautiful.
Oh, my friend Adenike was very accommodating and this made my stay really exciting within the period of three days.
We visited the Okin Motors park together, where I got my ticket to Jigs and booked my seat number. Luckily for me it was a bus heading directly to the camp.
This is where my Jigawa journey started.
I’m sure you don’t wanna miss these amazing ride
